How do you know it works if you haven't had a power surge yet? It looks like it works well. If I remember correctly, this one does not reset... it works only once... then you have to buy a new one. There is a light that tells you your protected and once it does its job (once) that light will go off, but it will continue to supply power to whatever is plugged in. I have this protecting my 65" Panasonic and I check it every week or so just to make sure. No problems yet. I have been buying APC for YEARS and I have never had a problem with their products (except for high priced replacement batteries for UPS).

simple, innovative attractive surge protection. Bought it to supplement a old power strip. Nice lights tell you at a glance if all's well with the power. Specs were good enough for me. comes with coaxial cable and on the underside has connectors for coax (75ohm) cable. Note if the lights are off you know all's not good and unit may have taken a hit, then you must buy a replacement as it is a one in done according to some of the reviews I've read.

Barely bumping it will cause it to lose power connection. This causes every device on it to power off. It has a plug on the top and just a stick to balance it on the bottom. It would be more secure if it could somehow plug into both the upper and lower areas of the power outlet.
